WHAT IS A CLONED DEVICE?
In Titan, a GPS tracking device (“device”) can only have one owner. However, the owner can share access to a device by cloning the device in other sub-user accounts. Currently only we in the admin panel can clone, but soon the owner of the device will be able to clone any device that he/she owns with other sub-users in his account.
Clones are handled differently in Titan than in other platforms. Titan treats a cloned device as a ‘view only’ device, a better word is a ‘shared’ device. The owner shares access to his/her device with other sub-users but only the owner can change the main settings of the device. The platform logic is built this way so that the owner retains control of the device because when you think about it there is only 1 ‘real’ device installed in 1 ‘real’ truck. And we don’t want sub-users changing critical settings like the actual driver driving the truck, or the plate number.
For a shared device the user can perform many of the same functions as an owned device, such as watching video, creating reports, creating events, geofences, etc. The only functions that a sub-user cannot perform on a shared device are below.
- Change driver
- Change work status
- Change device settings
- Change or edit Fuel Calibration settings
- Change or edit Fuel Consumption settings
- Change or edit Bluetooth Sensor settings
- Activate or deactivate engine kill/immobilizer
